Modular home energy efficiency is a priority when sourcing our inventory at Best Buy Homes. Modular homes have become more popular because they are more energy efficient and sustainable than traditional homes. They are also cheaper to build and easier to construct.

Modular Home Energy Codes

Modular Home Energy Codes

All Provinces have adopted the National Energy Code for Buildings (NECB) under section 9.36 of their respective Building Code editions. There may be variances between provinces on how they apply these standards.  Modular homes must be built to the same standards as a site-built home and must meet all CSA requirements.

Third-Party Inspections and Approval

An inspection sticker, like the CSA label, affixed to your home assures you that your home meets or exceeds local building requirements including Energy Efficiency Standards. This means it was built to comply with the codes in place at the time of manufacture and for the Energy Zone that for which the home was ordered.

The Canadian Standards Association is one example of third-party inspectors which publish and approve the standards for on-site and manufactured homes. Never remove your CSA label or inspection stickers from your home.

Energy Climate Zones

Relocating your home to a different zone may mean changes to the building could be required and you must check with the new municipality for conformance details prior to relocating.

Home Depot Canada has an insulation search tool that you can use to check your insulation R-value for which zone your home will be located.

Warranty Exclusions

Items not covered by our Warranty or items covered under a separate warranty are listed on the Warranty Agreement contained in the warranty envelope or at the warranty website. This should be reviewed to determine the coverage of the Warranty.

Modular Home Construction

Our homes are built in temperature-controlled factories because we value modular home energy efficiency. This can positively affect product quality, consistency and efficiency, as well as having a significant impact on energy consumption and production costs. Keeping the production area at a consistent temperature range allows workers an optimal work environment. Quality control is very important in the home building process.

Not only are these homes built to meet or exceed all local building code specifications, but they also undergo rigorous quality inspections. From electrical to flooring: each step of the way there’s steps to ensure the home is up to standard. Best Buy Homes are inspected for quality from planning to production to delivery to ensure modular home energy efficiency
